Sister Rose Marie Hauber was the Moderator for the Alumnae Association until 1987 when she retired as Professor Emeritus from the college.
In Fall 1938 she started teaching at Mount Mercy (Carlow College). In 1945 she was made Professor. She was also chair of the Language Department (foreign language). She became Professor Emeritus in May 1987. Her resurrection mass was held on February 17, 1994.
Each year the Carlow Alumnae Association hosts this event to raise money for this endowed scholarship fund in Sister Rose Marie Hauber's memory.
Scholarship Requirements
The two-year scholarship is awarded annually to full-time Humanities majors beginning their junior year, who exemplify qualities of the Carlow mission, and who demonstrate personal and academic excellence.
Some Updates
Among the names of our Rose Marie Hauber Scholars, we have several who now live and work in other countries: Poland and East Africa. Another scholar spent several years living and working in Japan, she is presently a pharmaceutical consultant. The well-rounded education in the Carlow humanities program indeed readies our graduates for a variety of career options and success.
